Klug-Aufmacher

Computer program for dimensioning and axle load calculation of tractor units and trailers

The program runs on all IBM-compatible MS-DOS computers that are running MS Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, 8 or 10, 32 bit or 64 bit. Our programs do not run on Windows RT. We recommend that you use a PC with at least 2 GB RAM. If you wish to install all programs, at least 7 GByte of free space on the hard disk. If you only install TrailerWIN, you will need at least 5 GByte of free space on the hard disk. A DVD drive is required to install the program. If you do not have a DVD drive on your computer, you can also obtain the program or programs on a USB memory card for a small supplement (also for updates).

We are not able to provide any guarantee/warranty that the data contained in TrailerWIN and all the other programs will match the actual weights or dimensions of the vehicles or equipment.

TrailerWIN and the other programs are available with single workstation license with USB dongle and with multistation license.
Single user license with USB dongle (the programs can be installed on multiple PC’s, but only run on the machine to which the USB dongle is connected)

Multi-user license (multi-user license means that the programs for vehicle construction can be copied and used to the hard drives of an unlimited number of PC’s, they are used a spatially contiguous establishment, provided that the multi-user version without dongle has been purchased. If the PC’s are located in spatially non-contiguous premises or plants, for example, in different streets, neighbourhoods or cities, then a program license must be obtained for each additional establishment. TrailerWIN has not been designed as a network program. However, it is still possible to install TrailerWIN in a network and operate it as a network program. For network installation, you need a multi-user license! You can obtain installation instructions from us.

In the development of TrailerWIN, users were initially satisfied that the program was able to identify the vehicle, i.e. the type could be recognized. Strictly speaking, TrailerWIN was and is not a vehicle design program, but primarily a program for axle load calculation and for the rapid generation of quotation drawings. The chassis drawings that we use are therefore highly simplified in comparison to a conventional CAD drawing. A major consideration is to avoid overloading the capacities of hard drives in PCs or laptops that are commonly available at present.

It is not possible to guarantee that all the measurements and weights are absolutely accurate. Although we usually obtain the dimensions of trucks or equipment directly from the manufacturer, but even the chassis manufacturers or suppliers do not provide guarantees about the absolute accuracy of the data supplied. For example, the height specs of cabs or frames may be only approximate because frame heights and also cab heights are not rigidly fixed with respect to each other. The dimensions may differ in practice from the theoretically determined heights due to corresponding differences / tolerances, for example in the cab suspension or axle mountings / suspension. In addition, the data provided by the manufacturers is unfortunately not always free of errors. For example, there are about 62,000 MAN chassis in the chassis database. A dataset for a chassis consists of around 100 individual data items. Our Quality Assurance endeavours to detect errors in the data using statistical methods. We have, for example, found original data from chassis manufacturers, which would have led the cab resting on the ground. Incorrect data identified by us is corrected and the errors are also reported to the chassis manufacturer. You will understand that given the large number of manufacturers and the explosive growth of data, the only practical method for identifying errors is statistically. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of each individual data point. On the other hand, you also have the option to enter the relevant vehicle data or correct it yourself. Needless to say, we will also correct faults reported by you and pass them on to the manufacturer for correction.

We therefore exclude any claim for damages, which could potentially result from the use of (any incorrect) data. Therefore, please check the data used in TrailerWIN and in other programs that you use for accuracy and completeness. TrailerWIN is available in Danish, German, English, Finnish, French, Dutch, Italian, Norwegian, Polish, Swedish, Slovakian, Spanish, Czech and Turkish. One language is included in the program’s basic equipment. The dimensions of the chassis / cabs, superstructures and accessories from most manufacturers of commercial vehicles are stored in a database.

Double cabs, cab extensions -, trailer hitches, front and centre lifting-tilting equipment, swap bodies, garbage truck structures, concrete mixers (STETTER, LIEBHERR), etc. can be mounted (up to 15 optional items of equipment in trucks and 10 in trailers). The same applies to the various vehicle swapbodies such as flat beds, tippers, skips, box bodies, curtainsiders, timber transporters, silos, tanks, ATL’s. The regulations on overhangs, total length, steerability, centre of gravity etc. are taken into account. The cornering characteristics of the road train may be reviewed in accordance with EC regulations in the PC.

The original version of TrailerWIN now contains about 90 chassis manufacturers with more than 100,000 chassis types. All chassis can be customized to the user’s needs (wheelbase, weight, centres of gravity, location of the equipment etc.). The vehicles created in TrailerWIN can be stored as a DXF file and can then be further processed in a CAD system, e.g. AutoCAD. In addition, the drawing files can be integrated into Word for Windows or WordPerfect (e.g. via the clipboard or as a .BMP file). Your own structures that were created with a CAD software can be imported into TrailerWIN. The program has all the advantages of the Windows user interface and can be operated by mouse. Your own bodies can be imported (as DXF file). With integrated search function for specific files. Your own texts, for example, on liability restrictions can be edited. The printout can be directly faxed/mailed to the customer.
